SAMA is the next chapter of a journey that began as Zaytoon.

I’m Israa, a Palestinian artist from Gaza, now based in South Africa. What started with a love for art and Palestinian heritage has grown into something much bigger — a creative journey built around culture, connection, education, and hope.

Why SAMA?
SAMA comes from the Arabic word “Samo” — meaning elevation, reaching higher, and rising above.
It represents what I aspire to do through my work: to keep growing, keep creating, and keep using my skills to support my family and community.

Art With a Purpose
Through SAMA, I create handmade pieces inspired by Palestinian embroidery, patterns, traditions, and stories.
I also run an educational campaign to support the children in my family, helping them continue learning and giving them space to explore creativity and dream about their future.
So when you support SAMA, you are not simply choosing a handmade product. You are becoming part of a story of heritage, creativity, education, and hope.

We are Israa and Manar, two souls united by love, hope, and a fierce belief in liberation. Our Palestinian store was born in the heart of a genocide, a time of unimaginable pain and loss. Yet, even in the darkest moments, we chose to act. This store is more than a business it’s a movement. Every item you purchase helps provide food, clothing, and essentials for families in Gaza, like Israa’s, who are fighting to survive.
But our dream is bigger. We envision a world where Israa’s family and all families can live in freedom, safety, and dignity. Whether it’s building them a home or helping them find refuge outside Gaza, we are committed to turning this dream into reality.
